The MCA’s Board of Governors has requested members to fill out a “Recommendation & Suggestion” slip to help the Board of Governors better understand how they can serve the MCA Members. The slips can be found in the office and the entrance area of the auditorium. The Board thanks all of you who have taken the time to fill out these slips. Some of the slips requested the Board of Governors to form shuffle board leagues, weekly card games, bring in local music bands and have miniature golf tournaments. All excellent ideas except the part about the Board doing it! The Board of Governors has made available the setting for these recreational activities, but they truly have enough to do without facilitating a type of Club Med. The MCA Members are encouraged to reach out to one another and form their own clubs or leagues. I suggest that you visit the office and ask one of the staff members to help you write a little article about your recreational interest, give you name, and a way for those interested to get in touch with you. The MCA will gladly put the article in the Monitor and on the MCA website.
Within the last nine months, the MCA refurbished the Miniature Golf Course, installing new indoor-outdoor carpet, and going through the individual obstacles, etc. making sure all were in working condition. Last month children were allowed to damage the Golf Course, pull down Life Guard Safety Equipment, and tear apart the Pickleball paddles. The MCA has this on video. We all have a responsibility to watch our children and our guest. The MCA belongs to all the Members, not just a few.
Residents of Meadview are reminded that not all properties in the Meadview area are MCA designated properties. Some properties were deliberately left out of the MCA because these subject Arizona properties that were being advertised in California somehow clashed with California law; therefore there are lots inside the MCA’s sphere of influence with the same CC&R’s as MCA lots, however, do not share the benefits of the MCA Membership and facilities. These particular lots were designated to have their own Home Owners Association.
The MCA Architectural Committee has through the years, and still is, worked to rid the Meadview area of dilapidated and unsafe dwellings that have been either abandoned or left neglected. The Board of Directors is elected to be a type of “watchman” over MCA business, not Mohave County. However, the MCA encourages all residents that if you know of unsafe or neglected properties, write a letter to the County of Mohave reporting these properties. If the properties are in violation, the County will perform. If you are having a difficult time legally classifying the property, ask the MCA Staff for help in identifying the property. The County will not reveal the name of the person sending in the complaint. We need to come together in cleaning up Meadview. As long as the abandoned, dilapidated properties remain Meadview will continue to attract vagrants and a criminal element, which will bring property values down and make Meadview an unsafe place to live or vacation.
